Only one USB port is powered.,
I was disappointed that only one of the USB sockets is powered and capable of charging phones/cameras etc. I’ve got an iPhone and a Sony reader that regularly need connected to the PC for downloading and charging and it would be convenient to leave both the iPhone lead and the e-reader lead plugged into the hub ready for use. With only one powered socket they need to get unplugged and swapped over for each device.
Also it has a headphone socket on the front but it would be nice to have audio connections for speakers on the back.
Display and ethernet work OK. Not as fast as plugging ethernet straight into the laptop or a display plugged straight into VGA/DVI on the graphics card but much more convenient and usually you wouldn’t notice the difference.
It would be more convenient if all (or at least a couple ) of the USB sockets were powered – if you can find a docking station with more powered USBs I’d choose it over this one.
It would be nice if the docking station had a power supply for the laptop and you could switch everything on and off from the front of the dock – haven’t seen this feature on other USB docks though.

Fantastic product, I’ve got it working on 2 windows laptops and a macbook air under both windows and mac osx (takes a bit of messing about with drivers to get it working on OSX and the ethernet doesn’t work).
The video response is really impressive considering the amount of data going through a single USB 2.0 port. Ideal for everyday computing, you only really notice it struggle when you watch video. A small window works fine but full screen anything more than DVD quality and it gets unwatchable.
Also to note I think this particular seller is selling reconditioned units (I don’t remember this being mentioned anywhere). It came in an unbranded brown box and the seals on some of the inner boxes had already been opened. However they are at a great price and work perfectly.

|Reliable and Works Perfectly with Window 7,
The Kensington Universal Notebook Dock has made my notebook commuting so easy. The DVI out and the various monitor formats are way better than the other docks I looked at. AND – WINDOW 7… – I simply downloaded the latest driver from Kensington and Win 7 works perfectly with the dock. BB
