Very good case,
On the original iPad I had an apple case. As protection it did a good job but it looked like a dogs breakfast and attracted dirt like a 2 year old; it was akin to dressing Marilyn Monroe say in a potato sack.
On getting an iPad 2 I wanted; front and back protection, reasonable cost, auto off and more marilyn and less sack. After looking at the stuff in the local Apple store, trailing the web and reading reviews I homed in on the StilGut stuff. I chose the vintage leather finish as any subsequent scuffing would not look too bad.
I was I bit concerned because it appears I am the first to reveiw this on Amazon UK although there are favourable review for other StilGut cases.
The case was slightly fiddly to fit and the creases in the to cover reluctant at first to bend but overall it is impressive. It looks good and works well (including the smart switch on and off)
The leather smart cover from Apple is practically the same price but this seems so much better. I recommend it but note I have only had it for a day; if it falls part or malfunctions I will try and post a follow up.

I had a few issues with colors and needed to swap things and StilGut proved to be an exceptional supplier. They could not do enough to help.
The trick with this leather cover is to press the hard PVC edges firmly against the iPad. This keeps it tightly fastened to the device – like a second skin.
The body of this cover is all leather. It smells great and feels good.
It has integrated unobtrusive PVC corners to grip the iPad tight.
The fact that it puts the iPad to sleep and wakes it up again is a useful, cool feature.
It’s a lovely, stylish tasteful product.
From my experience so far ‘smooth black’ is best.

UPDATE: The longer this leather cover adheres to my iPad the more I appreciate it. After a while it seems to actually merge with the device and gives it a very luxurious feel. It’s a tactile pleasure to experience!

I am in total agreement with the previous reviewer. Item of excellent quality, it fits the iPad2 perfectly, it is sturdy, beautiful and highly functional. Definitely deserving 5 stars. Not cheap, but quality has a price…
